Statement from Dale Parker Regarding Nomination Outcome
Over the past week, I agreed to put my name forward as a candidate for Centre BC in the 2026 Provincial General Election.
Centre BC approached me and confirmed their intention to support my candidacy less than 24 hours before the nomination deadline. With such a compressed timeline, I worked immediately to complete the required nomination documents and submitted them through the Elections BC portal before the 1:00 p.m. deadline on October 3.
I gathered most of the required nominators’ signatures within the limited time available and filed an extension request immediately after submitting my nomination documents. I submitted the remaining signatures the following day, on Sunday. Elections BC has informed me that my nomination could not be accepted because the required signatures were not completed before the close of nominations. I respect the decision and the consistency with which Elections BC applies the Election Act.
In recent days, many residents have expressed frustration about the limited number of choices now available on the ballot. Several people have told me they feel discouraged and may not participate in the election because the options do not reflect their views. Regardless of political affiliation, more voices and more perspectives strengthen our democratic process. When timelines are tight and nomination requirements cannot be met due to last minute confirmations or administrative delays, the result is fewer candidates and fewer options for voters.
I want to thank everyone who supported me, signed my nomination papers, and encouraged me to run. Although my name will not appear on the ballot this election, I remain committed to contributing to public dialogue, local accountability, and community focused reporting through Dale Parker Media.
