Mill Bay’s 3 Must‑Try Fish & Chips Spots
September 4, 2026
Mill Bay may be small, but it punches well above its weight when it comes to great Fish & Chips. Whether you’re craving classic crispy cod, a waterfront view, or a modern twist on a coastal favourite, these three local spots deliver.
Westcoast Fish N Chips — A Mill Bay Favourite
Westcoast Fish N Chips has become one of Mill Bay’s most
dependable go‑to spots, and for good reason. Located in the small outdoor mall
at 2490 Trans‑Canada Hwy, right at the corner of the highway and Frayne Road,
this family‑run shop has built a loyal following of regulars who return week
after week.
On Sunday evenings, the place turns into an unofficial “date
night” tradition. Sit outside at the picnic tables and you’ll see couple after
couple arriving right up until closing — many grabbing their meals to go,
others enjoying the fresh air and relaxed atmosphere.
Inside, the space is small with just a few tables, but the
warmth of the staff more than makes up for it. The owners are genuinely kind,
the service is personal, and the food is consistently excellent. Crispy, golden
fish, perfectly cooked chips, and that classic West Coast comfort, it all adds
up to a solid 10 out of 10 in my books.
If you’re in Mill Bay and craving great Fish & Chips,
Westcoast is one of those places that never disappoints.
Off The Hook Mill Bay — Fresh, Modern, and Always Busy
Off The Hook Mill Bay sits in the Mill Bay Centre, right
next to the BC Liquor Store. They’re a relatively new addition to the area,
taking over the former Mill Pizza location, and they’ve quickly become a
popular spot for locals looking for a relaxed meal and a cold drink.
The restaurant has a large outdoor patio and a comfortably
sized indoor seating area. In the summer, the patio is especially lively, a
great setup where you can enjoy the warm weather, sip something cold, and dig
into a solid meal.
My partner and I recently stopped in to try their Fish &
Chips, and it was genuinely impressive. The batter was crispy, the chips were
excellent, and the slaw rounded everything out nicely. The service was
friendly, the food arrived quickly, and the overall experience was one we’d
happily repeat.
On the Fish & Chips scale, I’d give Off The Hook a 10
out of 10, great food, great atmosphere, and a welcome addition to Mill
Bay’s dining scene.
Bridgemans Bistro — Marina Views, Great Atmosphere, and
Quality Fish & Chips
Bridgemans Bistro, located right at the Mill Bay Marina, is
always a busy spot, and with its beautiful waterfront views, it’s easy to
understand why. I’ve been there several times, and it consistently delivers a
casual dining experience with a wide variety of menu options. It can get loud
inside due to the acoustics, but the energy suits the space.
When it comes to Fish & Chips, Bridgemans knows exactly
what they’re doing. Their house batter is crispy, flavourful, and reliably
satisfying. It hits the craving perfectly, whether you’re dining indoors or
enjoying the marina scenery from the enclosed patio.
On the Fish & Chips scale, I’d give Bridgemans a 9 out
of 10, great food, great view, and a solid choice for anyone exploring Mill
Bay’s Fish & Chips scene.
